How to run the Web Browser version?

Step 1: Follow link
Follow the web browser link which you received in the email.

Step 2: Start probe
On the following screen, click the “Start” probe button to begin the probe.

Step 3: Mute site audio
You will then need to right-click on the probeRTC browser tab and then select Mute site as there will be an audio prompt playing in the background.

Step 4: Probe is now active

Your probe will then begin. You have three options:

  • SHOW LOG to view the results and depending on the frequency of testing that the administrator configured, you can check the results of your network connectivity.
  • HIDE LOG (the opposite of ‘SHOW LOG’ ) to hide the logs.
  • RESTART to begin the probe again.

How do I install the Windows version?

Running probeRTC installation on Windows requires you to download and run an executable file on your computer. The email you received, contains the unique API key you need to successfully install the software.

Step 1: Download
Click on the Windows version link that you received in the email to start downloading the software.

Step 2: Locate
Locate the file in your “Downloads” folder. The default location is C:\Users\Downloads. You should have admin rights to download and install the software on your computer.

Step 3: Install
Double-click the file to begin the installation.

Step 4: Ignore warnings
If you receive a warning similar to the one below, simply click on ‘More info’ and then click on ‘Run anyway’.

Step 5: EULA Agreement
If you accept the terms of the agreement click on “I Agree” to continue.

Step 6: Launch

  1. Once the installation is complete, you can launch the probeRTC application.
  2. When you launch the app for the first time you will be prompted to insert an API Key. This the Probe ID that was sent to you by email.
  3. Open your email inbox and copy the Probe ID into the API Key field.
  4. Click OK to complete the setup.

Step 7: Probe is now active
Let the probe run for some time and then you can click on the ‘SHOW LOG’ button to view the analytics of the test.

Your probe will then begin. You have three options:

How do I install the macOS version?

Running probeRTC installation on your Mac requires you to download and run a disk image file on your Mac. After receiving an email from the support team, you need to click on the ‘.dmg’ file. The email you received contains the unique API key you need to successfully install the software.

Step 1: Download
Click on the link (Mac version) that you received in the email to start downloading the software. You will be presented with a EULA agreement. You must agree to the EULA to continue with the download.

Step 2: Locate
After the download has completed you must locate the .dmg file on your Mac. This should be in your “Downloads” folder, unless you’ve specified a different location

Step 3: Copy to the “Applications” folder

  1. Double-click the .dmg file to open it. This will mount the image and reveal its contents.
  2. The image contains an application, you should see an icon for the application and a shortcut to the “Applications” folder.
  3. Drag the application icon to the “Applications” folder shortcut. This will copy the application to your “Applications” folder.
  4. Once the application has finished copying, you can eject the .dmg image by clicking the eject icon next to its name in the Finder sidebar, or by right-clicking the .dmg file and selecting “Eject.”

Step 4: Launch
The application should now be installed and ready to launch. You can find it in the “Applications” folder and launch it from there. When launching the app for the first time you will be presented with a warning message. You can safely ignore this message and click Open to continue.

Step 5: API Permissions

After launching the app you will be asked to provide permissions for the API in order to allow the probe access to documents and data in “System Events” and to perform actions within the app. You must allow these permissions in order to use the application. Click OK to continue.

Step 6: Add your unique API Key

  1. You must then retreive the API Key (Probe ID) that was sent to you by email.
  2. Paste the API Key in the field provided and lick OK to complete the setup.

Let the probe run for some time and then you can click on the ‘SHOW LOG’ button to view the analytics of the test.
