What is this about?

When trying to connect, we noticed we can’t do that over a UDP connection. It seems that the network is connecting UDP traffic, likely due to firewall rules.

In such cases, your calls and meetings might still take place, but they will do so over TCP or TLS connections, which aren’t as good as UDP for our needs.

Potential risks

Running live media over TCP or TLS connections is not advisable. This is because such networks can behave poorly for such types of data when there are packet losses or other network conditions affecting traffic even momentarily.

If UDP is blocked and can’t be connected, then your calls will likely suffer for having poorer quality than can be achieved otherwise.

Suggested actions to take

  • If you are using a VPN or a firewall, be sure to configure them so that UDP traffic will flow properly and your calls and meetings get connected using them
